Bereavement is one of the biggest and most devastating events that can ever happen to a person. Even though it is a common event, most people feel awkward and do not know how to deal with a grieving relative, colleague, employee, customer or client. They don’t know what to say or do and as a result they fail to support the grieving person, at worst they say or do something that hinders or damages a grieving person’s journey.

Our training helps you to understand the nature of grief and how to manage a grieving person in a positive and effective manner. As a result you will be able to be more caring and professional, while significantly enhancing the quality of service and support that you give.

You can trust the experts

Cruse Birmingham is a local organisation and for over 30 years has been committed to helping bereaved people understand their loss and cope with their grief. This experience has been used to develop our comprehensive and flexible training programme.

Our training helps you to understand the nature of grief and how to manage a grieving person in a positive and effective manner. As a result you will be able to be more caring and professional, while significantly enhancing the quality of service and support that you give.

Importantly our trainers are also volunteers for Cruse Birmingham; they work with grieving people all the time, so you benefit from their experiences and insights. You will find that we simplify things whenever possible and equip you with the skills and tools for working with grieving people. The training includes all training materials, hand-outs and certificates. We can deliver training at our city centre premises if you wish with lunch included or we can travel to you.

We have delivered training to the Police, Fire Service, Relate, Birmingham City Council, Aston University, Care home staff, Jaguar Land Rover and the NHS to name a few.

'I found this training a huge help both on a personal level and with regards to my work environment.  I would recommend it to anyone!'

Kim Jones-Michael, Care Home manager, Langstone Society.

What training do we offer and what does it cost?

We can offer standard "off the shelf" days, however if you require something more tailored to your needs that is not a problem. Costs for a full day vary depending on whether you are a Non Profit, Statutory or Corporate organisation. The costs are also influenced by the number of people to be trained, how many trainers are needed, if any bespoke work is required, whether premises and lunch are needed etc. Please contact us so that we can obtain an idea of your needs and requirements, then an accurate cost can be quoted.
