Bereavement Volunteer for Telephone Support - Cruse Bereavement Care

If the answer to these questions is yes then you could be just the person we are looking for!

Cruse Bereavement Care is the leading national charity for bereaved people. We offer support, advice and information to children, young people and adults when someone dies, and work to enhance society’s care of bereaved people.

 

We are looking to recruit new bereavement volunteers for our Birmingham branch.

 

As a bereavement volunteer, you will provide support to our clients who have been bereaved by death. Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic, this support will be delivered over the telephone so you will be based at home; however there may be an opportunity in the future to provide face to face support within the local area.

 

You don’t need any qualifications as all training is provided; all we ask is that you have good listening and communication skills, good organisational skills and a friendly manner.

 

You will need access to a computer/laptop or a tablet or smartphone and WiFi to be able to access our online system.

 

After we receive your completed application form, along with references, you will need to complete the volunteer process outlined below and we will provide more information for each stage.

 

  • Attend pre-course interview via Zoom

  • Read pre-course information

  • Receive details for online training

  • Complete training

  • Attend post course interview via Zoom

  • DBS check completed

  • Induction

  • Begin supporting clients

 

In turn we will provide a dedicated supervisor to offer support and guidance, reasonable out of pocket expenses and you will also receive regular volunteer newsletters.

Volunteer Fundraiser 

If you have experience of fundraising  would like to help Cruse Birmingham then we would like to have you on board. You will work closely with marketing to promote events that will raise much needed money for Cruse. We need someone with a few hours to spare to get involved with events occurring within the community to raise awareness and generate income. Working hours can be as flexible as necessary. 

If you are interested in volunteering you will be required to have a DBS check and complete safeguarding and GDPR training.
